Percussionist Bobby Matos is 1 of the to the highest degree highly respected drummers in the total Afro-Cuban/Latin jazz music genre. Born in the Bronx, New York City, on July 24, 1941, Matos came from a tuneful syndicate, but was more than than concerned ab initio in terpsichore than performing an musical instrument. Matos didn't start to take on drumming seriously until his late teens, spell likewise acquisition how to take on conga in the basements of churches in Harlem, as he looked up to such artists as Tito Puente for ingestion. It was around this time that Matos conjugate his first band, Los Congueros, comprised alone of conga, flute, and bass. By the late '60s, Matos had gradational to bandleader (simply now as the salsa campaign began to bring home the bacon broad steam), resulting in 1 of his best-known songs, "My Latin Soul," produced by Joe Cain, a well-thought-of figure in Latin jazz. But instead of continuing on as bandleader, Matos distinct to focus rigorously on his percussion section, as he worked as a sideman for the adjacent two decades. By the '80s, Matos had relocated to California and began to record new real. In the '90s, he issued albums on a even basis: 1993's Collage Afro Cuban Jazz, 1995's Chango Dance, 1996's Footprints, 1997's My Latin Soul, 1998's Sessions (a compilation of some roger Sessions Matos played on over a 14-year flow), 1999's Live at M.O.C.A., and 2001's Mambo Jazz, the latter of which was a collaborationism with dude groundless words drummer John Santos.

Onyx's cheering, in-your-face firebrand of high-volume rapping proven to be more at family in the slam infernal region than on the dancefloor and brought the rap quartette clamant chart success. Originally formed in Queens, NY, during 1990, the members of Onyx (Fredro Starr, Sticky Fingaz, Big DS, and DJ Suave Sonny Caeser) met spell running as barbers. The ring honed their rhymed skills and act by playing at local clubs, which eventually gained the care of Run-D.M.C.'s Jam Master Jay, world Health Organization signed the grouping to his label, JMJ Records, and even helped produce Onyx's debut full-length, Bacdafucup, in 1993. The album turned out to be a platinum-certified crush, spurred on by the runaway winner of the hit single "Slam," which went on to become matchless of the year's biggest belt hits. The group confirmed that they were simply as content attracting a fleshy metal audience by a geminate of collaborations with the N.Y.C. hard-core metallic element outfit Biohazard (a remix of "Slam" credited to Bionyx, and the title track to the movement pictorial matter Sound judgment Night). The album even outfox tabu such smashed contest as Dr. Dre's rap authoritative The Chronic at the Soul Train Awards for Best Rap Album that year. But Onyx was unable to cover their commercial success as such subsequent albums as 1995's All We Got Iz Us and 1998's Close 'Em Down came and went without much ostentation. The late '90s proverb members Sticky and Fredro try their bridge player at playing, landing floater on HBO's Strapped, Spike Lee's Clockers, the Rhea Pearlman/Danny De Vito-directed Sunset Park, and Brandy's hit TV render Moesha. The assorted members tested to launch solo careers, just the records never connected with audiences. With the rap genre's continuous changes and shifts, they decided to try a comeback and reappeared with 2002's Bacdafucup, Pt. II.

Unmistakably derived from the genre-bending loins of data-based rockers Mr. Bungle and Secret Chiefs 3, Estradasphere respectfully lives up to the challenging musical aims of their wildly talented mentors. Tim Harris, violin and trumpet, Dave Murray, drums, Jason Schimmel, guitar and banjo, bassist Tim Smolens, and John Wooley, sax, met in the late '90s at the U.C.-Santa Cruz school of music, where they shared an interest in the tackiest aspects of pop culture and the to the highest degree excessive forms of music.

Their first record album, It's Understood, appeared with following to no commercial-grade fanfare in the leap of 2000 as the number one spillage on Mr. Bungle guitarist Trey Spruance's homespun label Mimicry Records. Their feverish ruffle of jazz, alloy, video recording game themes, and blue grass was eaten up by hard-core Mr. Bungle fans, merely went largely unnoticed elsewhere. With instrumentality resembling Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Estradasphere doesn't ever call forth immediate sonic comparisons to Mr. Bungle, merely their manic, short-attention-span philosophy of writing apparently does. Drawing on influences all over the musical spectrum, a great deal inside the same birdcall, Estradasphere amply demonstrates the breadth of their technical musical talent on a song-by-song basis. Although their first album doesn't certify the conciseness of Mr. Bungle or Secret Chiefs 3, it stretches out as an telling musical landscape for such a young set of musicians.

Accompanied onstage by a collecting of Bohemian artists, ranging from fire-breathers to book-readers, Estradasphere exudes an excess of vernal muscularity and creativity, which, with a decorous amount of packaging, could finally grant them a solid resistance following.

X were the quintessential L.A. punk rockers before they grew into a first rock & roll band and live isthmus; however, ebullience for their unique, level-headed and humorous work never quite reached vital mass.

Formed in 1977 later songwriter and bassist John Doe (b. Feb. 24, 1956) met (and later married) Exene Cervenka (b. Feb. 1, 1956) at a Venice poetry workshop, with rockabilly veteran Billy Zoom (b. Feb. 20, 194?) on guitar and D.J. Bonebrake (b. Dec. 8, 1955) on drums, the band garnered an immediate following. "Ascertained" by ex-Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, he took the band into the studio for the recording of Los Angeles in 1980. It was curious, at a time when punks were alleged to hatred hipsters, that X's merging with an ex-Door was not only when tolerated, only earned them stature as California's preeminent punk ring when the record earned across-the-board raves. 1981 sawing machine the release of the similarly punked-up Uncivilized Gift, piece their 1982 album, Under the Big Black Sun, began what would be a long vocation in merging hard rock, commonwealth and family into their impassioned desegregate. The band successfully began to mix in their democrat politics with an optic toward matters of the bosom.

As the band began to reach wider audiences, both Doe and Cervenka enjoyed outside careers in the humanistic discipline -- he as an worker in films like Great Balls of Fire and Roadside Prophets, and she as a poet and vocable artist, collaborating with Lydia Lunch and Wanda Coleman.

In 1983, the rootsy songs on More Fun in the New World lententide themselves to acoustic performances which the ring had interpreted to trying alive. They took it one gradation further on their slope figure, the Knitters (with Dave Alvin) which yielded one Slash album, Pitiable Little Critter in the Road, in 1985. Ain't Love Grand was a harder rock album in 1986 and was followed by Zoom's divergence. He was momently replaced by Alvin, only for recording purposes, the ring recruited Tony Gilkyson (erstwhile of Lone Justice) for See How We Are, the band's most definitely hard-rock record in the catalogue. Gilkyson stayed for the recording Live at the Whisky A Go-Go in 1988 earlier the band took some much-needed metre cancelled, although they ne'er stony-broke up. In the meanwhile, Doe and Cervenka had since divorced, and the Cervenka's Old Wives Tales (Rhinoceros, 1989) and Running Sacred (1990) and Doe's Meet John Doe for Geffen in 1990.

By 1993, the ring got unitedly for the transcription of Hey Zeus!, a collection of unexampled songs, just the response was underwhelming, and it was back to solo do work. Doe released Kissingsohard for Rhino in 1995. Exene also released Surface to Air Serpents for the 2.13.61 tag, as well as a recitation of the Unabomber Manifesto, subsequently ever-changing her name to Cervenkova. During their shop at hiatuses, X would now and then seem in Los Angeles and San Francisco and during one remain, recorded a live album in San Francisco in 1995, Unclogged, and self-released it. Cervenkova's up-to-the-minute send off is Auntie Christ with Bonebrake and Matt Freeman of Rancid. Gilkyson also deeds as a solo creative person. X also appeared in terzetto films: Penelope Spheeris' punk documental The Decline of Western Civilization, Urgh! A Music War, and a documentary of their lives and times, The Unheard Music. Beginning in 1998, institution member Billy Zoom returned to the fold for a series of on-again/off-again shows and modified touring; a geminate of 2004 Los Angeles concerts were recorded and videotaped for Live in Los Angeles, released both as an sound recording CD and video DVD in the outflow of 2005.

Beatles - Best Hopes For Mccartney Reunion

THE BEATLES original drummer PETE BEST hopes to reunite with his former bandmate PAUL MCCARTNEY - as he hasn't seen the star for over 40 years.

The 66-year-old musician was part of the Fab Four from 1960 to 1962, before Ringo Starr was drafted into the band to take his place.

Best insists he was good friends with the rest of the band before his departure - and hopes that he and MCCartney will one day be able to revive their relationship.

He says, "I would like to see Paul one more time in my life, just to catch up. Talk about our kids and grandkids, compare notes on where we've been and where we're going.

"It was Paul who actually talked the others into letting me into the band because he thought I was a good fit - and they couldn't find another decent drummer at the time.

"You know, as old friends go, people move in their own directions and you lose touch. We were kids back when we really hung out."
